2014 Soccer Archives Cut Autograph Prototype – Pele

pele cut auto template

I was messing around with a mini cut autograph card in the design of 1985 Topps football.  Again, I wanted to use the hundreds of business cards I have to do with whatever I want.  I’ve always loved making cut autograph cards.  Of course how many cut soccer autographs are there out there that I can do.  Still though, I really like how this looks and at a minimum I will make the Pele one.

What do you think about it.  I still have to come up with a back.

2014 Score Soccer Rookies Set – SR-HS – Harry Shipp

This set continues to impress.  The Fire logo looks great on the front and back.  No problems really while making this card other than trying to find him in a Fire jersey while being the only person in the photo.  There is actually another person in this photo but thanks to cropping, the are gone.  This weekend is shaping up to be a big card making weekend, with I think 9 cards ready for printing.

Shipp has become a spark plug for the Fire.  He has netted 6 goals and 5 assists in only 19 total games (17 started).  He is yet another great foundation block for this Fire team.

I’m still trying to figure out what colors work best with these cards. I’ve done green blue and now orange.  I couldn’t go blue with this one, as it would interfere with his jersey.  Other than that small issue, this version of the Archives Soccer set looks great.  I will have to come up with a fourth version soon.  Also I will need to do a checklist at some point.  I’m thinking make each 14 card section a checklist in it’s own style.

As for Dominic Dwyer, he is killing it for KC.  He has 14 goals and an assist in 19 games started.  He may not have been a starter at the beginning of the season but he’s one of the most important players on the team right now.

As I create more and more of these I definitely see a trend.  The best MLS players are in the west.  That might be a misnomer though because most of the MLS teams are west of the Mississippi River.  This card came out looking a bit plain in my mind.  I wanted to add a third color like I do in many of my cards in this set but thanks to the green white primary colors of the team, I was very limited as to my options as far as the pennant color and the team name color.

Originally I was going to make the pennant color white with green wording but, I thought it just made the card look incomplete.  So I went with the green with white writing even though it matches the team name color.  It’s the best I could do with this team.  If you can think of another color I could use that would also associate with the team I am all ears.  I would like to change it a little before I turn it into a card.
