2014 Archives Soccer – #32 Dominic Dwyer

I’m still trying to figure out what colors work best with these cards. I’ve done green blue and now orange.  I couldn’t go blue with this one, as it would interfere with his jersey.  Other than that small issue, this version of the Archives Soccer set looks great.  I will have to come up with a fourth version soon.  Also I will need to do a checklist at some point.  I’m thinking make each 14 card section a checklist in it’s own style.

As for Dominic Dwyer, he is killing it for KC.  He has 14 goals and an assist in 19 games started.  He may not have been a starter at the beginning of the season but he’s one of the most important players on the team right now.

2014 Archives Soccer – #31 Robbie Keane

I love how this card came out.  I am still trying to figure out what colors to use in the background.  I was going to use a light yellow but with that photo, it would wash out with his pale complexion.  I was going to make his name blue and yellow, but again, it would washout on the background of the card.

As for Keane, he has been an international superstar for years.  Now he is just killing it in the MLS.  42 goals in three years is fantastic and he seems to get better with age.  What do you think about Keane and the card?

New Prototype for Soccer Archive Set – 1959 Topps Sean Johnson

Yet another design that I have always loved.  At least the front of it, I have never loved the back.  It had the rub with coin for answer and a lot of dead space at the bottom of the card.  It’s why I placed the logos that I did at the bottom of the card.  Some things I changed on the front of the card include the boarder around the player picture and the addition of the autograph box, had to be clipped on the ends.  If I allowed them to extend out, I felt it would be too much white in that area.

As far as the subject goes, Sean Johnson is a fantastic goalie.  He has been in the starting 11 essentially since his rookie season in 2010.  He is in a great situation on a fantastic team.  At the age of 25 he is already a veteran and a leader on his team.  Let me know what you think about the design.  If it needs anything or not.
