This set continues to impress. The Fire logo looks great on the front and back. No problems really while making this card other than trying to find him in a Fire jersey while being the only person in the photo. There is actually another person in this photo but thanks to cropping, the are gone. This weekend is shaping up to be a big card making weekend, with I think 9 cards ready for printing.
Shipp has become a spark plug for the Fire. He has netted 6 goals and 5 assists in only 19 total games (17 started). He is yet another great foundation block for this Fire team.
I decided to separate the Score rookie set from the Archive set. I’ve always loved rookie sets as stand alone. This is a tougher card to make because there is just not a lot of his photos out there in a FC Dallas jersey. He is a home grown talent. Grew up in Colorado, went to Colorado School of Mines and became the first Division II player selected in the first round of the 2014 MLS Super Draft (6th pick). He has immediately paid dividends in his first 9 games in which he’s started he has 3 goals. He is going to have a great future with FC Dallas. What are your thoughts?
When making this set up I wanted to just put in first year guys. Meaning guys drafted in this year’s Super Draft and started playing immediately. Now this may change as I go on since I’d like to see this set swell to about 30 cards. Then I’d like to do a different set every year along the lines of the Donruss “The Rookies” sets of the late 80s.
I liked McNamara for one simple reason . . . the mullet. His mullet also describes his play, a little wild and very effective. Just looking at him you know this guy is business in the front and party in the back! This year he is a solid contender for rookie of the year after being an ACC standout just a year ago. I wish him and Chivas USA the best of luck this season.
So How do you like this card? How would you build not only this set but sets that follow?
